Labouring all day.

It\’s been a glorious day, is it too much to hope that summer has come early?

There is not much to report, I have spent all day cutting, preserving and erecting the posts to hold up the balcony:

Will they do the job? I haven\’t a clue, if I find the balcony in the garden one day, I will have my answer, but like all things in Colombia, you do the best with what you have.

Yet again, I had to have the post bases made, but this time I also had platforms made to go under the bases, and they have four spikes each, which are set into the concrete bases, those I prepared two weeks ago, and today, decided to risk the concrete, and there was no cracking or splitting, so at least they have done their job.  I am sorry about the state of the garden, I will be glad when we have our new covers for the septic tanks at the end of the month, and then we can spend time organising the garden.

After clearing up, Marcela and I had a dip in the pool, you could tell we have not had much sun in recent days, it was freezing, and certainly cleared the cobwebs away!

My next project is building a brick dog kennel for Pépe, at the moment, he keeps moving around the garden, trying to find somewhere dry and cool, the main problem he has is when we are out, and he is in the garden, he has trouble finding anywhere that is totally protected, so I am going to give him his own space, in front of my workshop, first, I have to prepare the concrete base, which must be high enough to protect him from any water ingress. However that won\’t be in the morning, as I have to be at the Doctors for 8.40am, and then we had a call this afternoon to say a man wants to see our Tucson, so we have to fly across to San Juan for 10am, and be back before 2pm, as the men are coming to rip out the stainless steel kitchen top  sometime thereafter, and the new granite one is going in on Thursday… I hope.

I moved to Colombia from Spain in 2012, and I am happily married to a Colombiana.
