It\’s been an expensive couple of weeks, I think my luck with cars has to change sometime before I leave this world, but there is no sign of it at the moment.
The lad that sold us the X-Trail, was a damn good second hand car salesman, and the Company that did the independent inspection for a not so cheap price, were to be honest, a load of crap! We have been having trouble with the diesel blowing out black smoke when under pressure, and it was thought to be the Turbo, which was bad enough, but with the Revision Tecnico (Equivalent of UK MOT) due at the end of January, we had to get it sorted, we have already had some work done on the car, which cost nearly a million, but this work turned into a nightmare, it appears it wasn\’t the Turbo but the Injectors.
We were originally quoted $820.000 each and there are four, that was bad enough, but yesterday we received a call to say Nissan had been in touch and they were more than double that at $1.900.000 plus fitting, each, which is ridiculous, anyway we found someone else that could supply them at $1.200.000 each, plus fitting, still expensive, but better than Nissan, so we went ahead, there was not much option to be honest.
Today they have been fitted, and so far, it appears to have solved the problem, no sign of smoke, we will monitor it over the next few days and see how it goes, much more, and I will have to employ security to look after the car! I think I will have to call this bill, a Birthday present to myself, if for no other reason that to keep me sane. I spent a quiet day at home, Marcela was working, but is taking me out for lunch on Sunday, I hope it\’s not the Chauffeur\’s day off…No, I\’m available, hahaha!
With the Nissan having been off the road, Marcela has had to resort to being a pillion on the Royal Enfield, thank goodness we are in summer and no rain!
Now all our cash has gone from the sale of the Montero, we will have to dip into our savings to pay for the last processes in sorting out the house, which is not ideal, but maybe we\’ll win the Lottery, and put an end to our woes!
