Well that came and went fast enough… Christmas I mean! I hope you all had a peaceful and uneventful time, unless it was a nice surprise of course. We had a quiet time, the weather was rubbish unfortunately, our dry season, stayed dry until last night, but it was grey all over Christmas, and a bit nippy by Colombian standards.
The Mother-in-Law told me that she slept well during her three night stay, unlike at home where her mattress is hard, so on Tuesday I went out and bought her an identical mattress to those in our guest room, took it and put it in her bedroom as a surprise, when we spoke to her the following day to see how she had slept, we found that she had not unwrapped it, it was still just stood in the bedroom…I give up!
However I was not happy, because the house is ours, I bought it as an investment for Marcela, and when I went into the bedroom, I saw a bowl in the middle of the floor, I rang Marcela to confirm my suspicions, and there is a leak in the roof, but she wasn\’t going to tell me, after the amount I had had to pay out recently on repairs to our finca, she was going to try and pay for it herself, bless her! I told her we had the cash, when it is gone, it is gone, but to arrange the repair, so Diego is going to do it first thing Sunday morning, which is just as well, as it lashed down with rain last night. I don\’t want to wait and as a result have more damage. I have sorted out some of my spare roofing tiles, and tomorrow I will buy a roll of roofing felt, and leave it at the house for Diego.
New Year, we are having a quiet one, just the two of us, both the Mother-in-law and Father-in-law are going to their other Daughters, I would love to be a fly on the wall, considering the recent problems in that area, but it\’s their decision, I hope for their sake all goes well.
Update: I apologise for the diabolical spelling, I am hoping that it is all now correct, I wrote the post on my mobile phone, where I am all fingers and thumbs.
