Car Problems

The problems with the Montero continue, yesterday I had an appointment with my Accountant in the City, and the car cut out twice, then started running rough, so after the appointment, and dropping Marcela off to pick up her car, to go to work, I went to seek out Javier.

Javier, agreed it was running rough, then thought he had found the problem, one of the spark plug cables had sheered off inside it\’s boot, so could not be seen, and whilst out yesterday it had dropped out, and was shorting against engine. A set of replacement cables later, the car appeared to be running very smoothly, I had no further problems, and thought the problem was resolved.

This morning, I had to take my boys to have a wash and brush-up, the car stopped about 100m from the house, but re-started immediately, so I thought it was me, however after dropping the boys off, the car cut out again, in the middle of Copacabana, fortunately I was on an incline and able to coast to a spot where I wasn\’t blocking traffic! Again a wiggle of the same electric cables as previously, and it started, so a phone call to Javier, and I will be back in Bello at 8am tomorrow, for him to have another look, I think I am going to insist that the cables are totally replaced this time, and the unit they are attached to, which if I understand correctly is the switch for changing from petrol to gas, but as usual…I could be wrong! Javier said he will have it put on the scanner this time, which may spot the problem…just another bill. Marcela says I should change the car, but that\’s no guarantee the next would be any better, I must admit, that at the moment, it is a very tempting option.

Now I am just passing time, waiting for the call to say that Pepe and Tito are ready for collection.
