Just to change the subject for once!

I went out walking Pépe last night, unfortunately we we came across a couple of dogs out on their own, I know where they are from, and we have come across them a few times, but now Pépe is not so keen on them, and was pulling like crazy.

As on similar occasions his harness clip gave under the pressure (why we have to have plastic clips, and not the old fashioned buckle, I have no idea!), and Pépe escaped before I could grab him. Straight out into the road after the Jack Russell, the pair of them were tearing from one side of the road to the other, and there was absolutely nothing I could do about it, I have never seen Pépe move that fast.

Cars were screeching to a halt to avoid the pair of them, Pépe took absolutely no heed of my calls, and then the worst happened, he ran in front of a motorcycle, the lad braked hard, missed Pépe, but lost control and came off, fortunately not at a fast speed. I went to him, he wasn\’t injured, and luckily neither was his bike damaged… well not enough for him to be worried about it. He told me to forget it, and off I went again.

Fortunately the dogs had been distracted by another, as I approached the Jack Russell ran off, and Pépe was about to follow, so before he could, I had no option, but to kick him into a gateway, where I grabbed him and it was back to the lead.

The harness is now in the bin, Pépe suffered no ill effects from my boot, and my heart rate is back to normal.

Once we have moved to the house, there are going to have to be some really strict training sessions, or otherwise Pépe is going to cause a serious accident, or I am going to have to reconsider his future.
