December is here!

It\’s funny how soon you forget things, and the night of November 30th / December 1st was one of them.

Colombia, I don\’t know about the rest of South America, believes that Christmas starts on December 1st, and last night was like WW3, the Fireworks went on for hours, and were still going off sporadically this morning. The Music was bouncing, but I have to admit not quite as bad as last year, because Mother Nature came to my rescue, it has been teeming down with rain all night, which kept the Party Goers inside.

I went out with Pépe at 6am, and some were still hard at it, I went again at 11am, and most apartments had their curtains closed, obviously sleeping it off, now would be the time, if I was so inclined, for me to start up, and get my own back, but I\’ll be a good neighbour, and let them get on with it. I expect it will start again this evening.

Marcela reminded me that we will have the same again next week-end Día de las Velitas, when every household puts candles from the front door along the outside boundaries, in honour of the Immaculate Conception, and invites all the good Spirits into their homes, and in some cases Businesses as well.

I moved to Colombia from Spain in 2012, and I am happily married to a Colombiana.
