A quiet week!

Just in case you thought I had got lost, I decided I should add a line or two.

There really is not anything to report this week, Monday and Tuesday, it cooled off, down to a cold 23ºC and bucketed down with rain, forget umbrellas, they would have just folded under the force of the rain. However Wednesday and Thursday it was 35ºC and cracking the flags, and since then it has been a mixture of both, so although winter is here, we don\’t know from one day to the next what we will be wearing!

I have decided that I am going to have to have another key cut to the apartment, and leave it somewhere \’safe\’! yesterday was the second time I have locked myself out recently, having forgotten to take my keys with me. Fortunately, Marcela was only 15 minutes away, and had her keys with her, but even so, it is both worrying, and frustrating, that I am having these lapses of memory loss.

To mention a bit about nature here, one species that are prevalent here, are ants, I don\’t know whether it is just in the towns, or nationwide, but I have never seen so many, at times they find their way into your apartment, coming up through drains, or using electric cable ducting, so you have to remember to run the tap from time to time to stop them, and in the kitchen, unplug appliances near the worktops, to stop them  running up and down the cables. Outside new mounds appear daily, a bit like termites, you can\’t think about sitting on the grass, you would be bitten to bits, and you have to bear this in mind after taking your dog for a walk, because you can guarantee they will have laid down in the grass.

Another, species, that I have only seen on video before coming here, is the Firefly, when I take Pépe for his evening walk along the riverbank, it is fascinating to watch the twinkling lights of the fireflies dancing about in the grass, but for the smell from the river, I could sit there for hours watching them.
